SWITZERLAND’S BAUMER INVESTS IN THE SKOPJE 1 FREE ZONE
Today, an assessment of the construction activities of the renowned Swiss company Baumer took place in the Skopje 1 free zone, as well as the signing of the state aid contract. The agreement was signed by the CEO of Macedonia’s Free Zones, Aleksandar Mladenovski, along with the Executive Director of Baumer, Marcel Fraj.
Through this agreement, Baumer’s activities will be supported and partially subsidized by the Government’s transparent measures and Economic Growth Plan.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, in charge of economic affairs, Kocho Angjushev, was also present and expressed his satisfaction that construction of the plant is at an advanced phase. He also stressed that the significance of this foreign investment is the planned scientific and research center in which more than 30 young engineers from the field of electronics, computer science, and mechanical engineering will be employed.
Baumer Holding AG is a family-owned international company that produces advanced sensor technology, inductive and process sensors, encoders, cables and other semi-finished products in the field of electronics. The company is present with 38 subsidiaries across 19 countries, with over 2,700 employees. This year, Macedonia joins Baumer’s list of countries.
The total value of the investment will be approximately €9 million, with 300 to 350 new employments planned in five phases. Start of production is expected to begin in the first half of 2019.
