CORNERSTONE LAYING CEREMONY OF TECHNOLOGICAL INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE SKOPJE 2
Cornerstone marking the beginning of construction operations of infrastructure within Technological Industrial Development Zone SKOPJE 2, located next to TIDZ SKOPJE 1 in Bunardzik, was laid.
“Favorable transport networking, proximity to Skopje and the airport, as well as complementarity with zone SKOPJE 1 will be sufficiently provocative for investors”, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski at the ceremony.
The Government-founded TIDZ SKOPJE 2 will be constructed at a land of 95 hectares. It can encompass 20 plants and offer approximately 5,000 jobs.
“The first stage of infrastructure construction envisages roads, water supply, sewerage, gas and electricity facilities”, said PM Gruevski, adding the Government has allocated EUR 3,5 million for this purpose.
Gruevski expects a number of investors to find their place in TIDZ SKOPJE 2, especially after the “emerging end” of the global economic crisis.
According to him, 80-90 percent of the TIDZ SKOPJE 1 capacities were reserved by potential investors, but the economic crisis prevented their realization.
“We believe interest will emerge again, with investors coming back to these zones”, underlined PM Gruevski.
The Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones will manage and develop the Zone on the Government’s behalf.
