CORNERSTONE LAYING CEREMONY OF TECHNOLOGICAL INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE STIP
The start of construction of the Technological Industrial Development Zone STIP was marked in presence of PM Nikola Gruevski, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski, Director ofthe Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones (DTIDZ) Marjan Jovanov, the metropolitan of Bregalnica eparchy Ilarion and Stip Mayor Zoran Aleksov.
Gruevski in his address pointed out that the start of construction of the largest Technological Industrial Development Zone in Macedonia, TIRZ STIP, is planned to provide conditions for construction of approximately of 50 plants, which could offer more than 10.000 new jobs.
– By today’s cornerstone we mark the start of the first phase of construction of the infrastructure including line of communications at length of 2.2 km, construction of water supply and sewerage system, which will be finished by one year worth Euro 7 million, Gruevski said.
He said that additional funds will be invested in the second phase including electricity, gas and telecommunications infrastructure.
– By construction of adequate infrastructure this Zone I believe will attract numerous investors. Opportunities for realisation of these plans are quite realistic especially taking into consideration the fact that the Zone has excellent location – in region where industrial and agricultural branches are developed, Gruevski said.
He also added that additional motivation for attracting the investors is good transportation connection consisted of railway and highway network near the Zone.
Director of Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zone (DTIDZ) Marjan Jovanov said that 11 new zones will be constructed enabling development of all regions in the country. The construction of the TIRZ SKOPJE 1 is at the end. Also new Free Economic Zones SKOPJE 2, TETOVO, KICEVO, RADOVIS are planned to be built.
– First phase of TIRZ STIP includes construction of transportation infrastructure with water supply and sewerage system, and the Zone will provide water from Zletovica hydro-system, Jovanov said.
Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski said that the Zone in Stip is larger than TIRZ SKOPJE 1 and believes that there are many investors who want to invest in this Zone.
