U.S. Company Gentherm Officially Open Their Plant in Prilep
The U.S.’ Gentherm has officially opened its production plant in the Prilep free zone, worth €20 million. The plant currently has 450 employees, and expects an additional 2,000 within the next few years. Gentherm is a global developer and marketer of innovative thermal management technologies for a broad range of heating, cooling and temperature control applications.The new plant will manufacture parts for the automotive industry in Europe.
“With the opening of the Gentherm factory, the industrial zone in Prilep becomes the fifth functioning economic zone in Macedonia, following those in Skopje, Kicevo and Stip,” said Viktor Mizo, CEO of the Free Zones Authority. He elaborated that parts needed by the automotive industry in Europe would be manufactured in the Macedonia plant.Mizo also added, “the number of employees is expected to rise from the current 450 to 650 by the end of the year”.
A cornerstone laying ceremony for the plant took place in December of 2014.
