In organization of the Macedonian Embassy in Hungary alongside the Central European Chamber of Commerce “EuCham” the Macedonian investment forum was held at the Business School of the Central European University in Budapest. The main goal of the forum was presenting the investment climate in the Republic of Macedonia and the possibilities for investment in multiple sectors. The introductory note of the presentation was given by the Macedonian ambassador in Hungary, Darko Angelov where as the CEO of the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones, Viktor Mizo presented the country’s overall profile, the offered opportunities and the atmosphere for investment. In the presence of over 80 high-level company representatives from Hungary and Central Europe, the President of the Central European Chamber of Commerce, Michel Orzan and the Dean of the Business School of the Central European University, Mel Horovich, gave welcome speeches to the guests.

At the presentation were highlighted the measures undertaken by the Macedonian government for attracting foreign investors and the country’s potential for export of Macedonian products in Hungary and Central Europe. The attending representatives showed special interest for investment in the food sector and the tourist capacities in Macedonia, thereby underlining that although Hungary is in recession certain companies have the potential for expanding their production capacities in countries offering favorable investment conditions, as is the case with Macedonia.

Upon completion of the presentation, a tasting of Macedonian wines took place as an opportunity for an informal introduction and discussion of the next steps by interested parties to visit the Republic of Macedonia and determine the specific possibilities for investment.
