Skopje and Stip Named Top Cities for Investment by fDi Magazine

For the second time in a row, Skopje is #1 in Cost Effectiveness and in the Top 10 for FDI Strategy amongst Small European Cities in fDi magazine’s European Cities and Regions of the Future 2016/17 rankings. This year Skopje Statistical Region proved to be a winner in Cost Effectiveness in the Top 10 Small European Regions category as well.

In fDi’s Micro European Cities category, the city of Stip is #1 in Cost Effectiveness and in the Top 10 for FDI Strategy.

In existence for more than a decade, fDi Magazine’s biennial rankings of the most attractive locations in Europe for future inward investment have become a key benchmark of FDI competitiveness across the region. They serve as a barometer of attractiveness for the many cities and regions that are proactively pitching themselves for inward investment.

This year great interest was shown in the FDI Strategy index. It demonstrates that despite the difficulties that Europe is facing on the economic, political and social fronts, there are also just as many reasons for optimism about FDI prospects, and cities and regions remain committed to attracting investment from foreign companies.

fDi Magazine is a specialist publication which reports on crossborder investment and is read by senior level executives at multinational corporations and others involved in corporate greenfield site selection decisions.

Data was collected for 481 locations (294 cities, 148 regions and 39 local enterprise partnerships), under five categories: Economic Potential, Labor Environment, Cost Effectiveness, Infrastructure and Business Friendliness.
