Construction of Avesta Battery and Energy Engineering Begins in TIDZ Kichevo
Today, the construction of a factory for electronic car batteries by the Belgian company Avesta Battery and Energy Engineering officially began in TIDZ Kichevo. In its first phase, the investment will amount to €10 million, creating 120 to 200 jobs.
The Director of TIDZ, Goce Dimovski, alongside Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, and Avesta Battery’s CEO Aleksandar Golaboski, attended the official groundbreaking ceremony.
Dimovski expressed strong support for the investment, emphasizing its significant contribution to economic growth and development, reaffirming Macedonia’s competitiveness as a destination for foreign investors.
Aleksandar Golaboski, the company’s CEO, announced plans for exports worth €50 million in the first year of operation, with the total investment expected to reach €40 million and the workforce expanding to 600 employees.
“We hope the facility will be completed next year. Based on the business plan, exports in the first year are projected at around €50 million, and at the peak of operations in seven to eight years, we expect this figure to increase tenfold,” Golaboski stated.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski highlighted that the launch of this investment proves that much can be achieved through collaborative efforts.
“This is a promising investment for this region of Macedonia, for Kichevo. We anticipate the maximum number of employees to reach 600, or even more, and exports could hit half a billion euros within six to seven years. This is proof that, together, much can be accomplished. Together with TIDZ Director Goce and the investor, a lot has been done to bring this project to life, including its approval in a Government session. By the end of this year, we expect to close with a record number of foreign investments worth over €1 billion, making us the leaders in the Balkans on a per capita basis,” stated Prime Minister Mickoski.
