DESPOTOVSKI: IN SEVEN YEARS NEARLY 65% GROWTH OF SALARIES – TWICE MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS TEN

Higher wages for our fellow citizens is one of the key elements of the economic policy of both TIDZ and the Government, and the figures and results show that with a real economic policy it is achievable, which is also confirmed by international financial institutions, Jovan Despotovski, director of TIDZ in Top topic, on Thelma Television.

“According to official data from the International Monetary Fund, in the period from 2017 to 2023, that means in seven years, the average salary grew by nearly 65%, and GDP by about 40%. Compared to the period 2007-2016, GDP grew 29%, which means 11 percentage points in ten years slower, and the average salary grew 36%, almost twice as slow,” said Despotovski and added:

“We showed that we know how to work economically, regardless of the attempts of our political opponent to show that in some previous times they held dominance in the part of the economy. The IMF figures show exactly the opposite. So that if we keep the trend, and there is no reason why not, an average salary of 1100 euros is realistically attainable,” emphasized Despotovski.

“Based on the performance so far, we can say that we have delivered the previous promise. We have long exceeded the promised average salary of 500 euros and now it is already 40% above that promise. There were those who even then said that this was unrealistic and unattainable, but when you know how to make the right decisions and have the courage to encourage change, the results are visible. So yes, we can honestly say that we can expect an average salary of 1100 euros. If we previously said an average salary of 500 euros and exceeded it, then with such policies, the promise of salary increases is realistically achievable. In the economic part, we are very clear and precise,” emphasized Despotovski.

Regarding the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, Despotovski believes that public opinion should not be underestimated, but also that polls should not be manipulated, which “are now used more to create public opinion than to reflect the real situation”.

“The election race starts from 0:0. I would be very careful, especially with the opposition, because I notice a tendency for them to raise expectations. We had such a situation in the presidential elections in 2019, as well as in 2020, where all polls showed something that did not come true. Because of that, the narrative of the opposition that the race is decided in advance is far from real,” Despotovski pointed out.
