The third phase of the investment cycle of the German company KOSTAL has begun

The Director of TIDZ, Goce Dimovski, together with Prime Minister Mickoski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, and the Mayor of Ohrid, Kiril Pecakov, attended the official marking of the beginning of the third phase of the investment cycle by the German company KOSTAL.

Director Dimovski expressed particular support for the investment, highlighting its significant contribution to economic growth, the creation of new jobs, and the promotion of Macedonia as a competitive destination for foreign direct investment.

Within this phase, the most sophisticated automotive electronics for the Volkswagen Group will be produced in Ohrid, to be distributed to all their manufacturing sites, along with advanced mechatronic systems for Mercedes. With this new investment, KOSTAL’s total investment in Macedonia will exceed €150 million, with an expected export value of half a billion euros.

“For the Volkswagen Group, all vehicles from the new program will be entirely manufactured in Ohrid and delivered to all their locations. The second project within this scope is the production of advanced mechatronic systems for Mercedes,” said Viktor Mizo, General Manager of KOSTAL Macedonia, during the official beginning of this phase of their operations.

“What I saw inside first inspired me as a university professor, as someone teaching subjects in the field of mechatronics—it’s truly impressive. I would say, aligned with the most advanced and modern global trends, production is happening here in Ohrid. More than 1,150 employees are part of this. The plans for the future are equally impressive. The new investments of around €50 million in the next four years, along with the projected export value exceeding half a billion euros, are remarkable,” stated Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
