The director of TIDZ, Goce Dimovski, today held a working meeting with the general director of the company VDL Van Hool Macedonia, Avram Stojchevski. At the meeting, they discussed the current activities and future plans of the company, as well as the possibilities for new investments.
“The main goal for us as an institution, as well as the goal of the new government, is the long-term growth and economic success of Macedonia, and companies like VDL Van Hool Macedonia are key partners in achieving this goal. We continue to create new opportunities and benefits for all investors, all with the aim of attracting new investments, increasing the number of jobs, as well as strengthening the competitiveness of Macedonia as a country,” said Director Dimovski.
The general director, Avram Stojchevski, expressed particular satisfaction from the meeting and also expectation for successful further cooperation.
“Van Hool’s investment in Macedonia has been successful for 12 years. This year, the company got a new owner and became part of the Dutch VDL Group, we became part of a group that consists of over 100 successful high-tech companies,” said Stojchevski. “As an exporter, we participate with a significant share in the country’s economy, but we are also known as a large employer, given that we employ around 1350 workers. In addition, the fact that we are partners of more than 20 domestic companies speaks of our long-term commitment to the development and building of stable business relationships that will further contribute both to the success of VDL Van Hool Macedonia and to the economic progress of the country,” he pointed out.
The Belgian company Van Hool signed the investment agreement in Macedonia in July 2012, and this was the first strategic investment in the company’s production capacity in the region. In March of this year, the company went bankrupt, and the bus production part, including the production plant in Skopje, was completely taken over by the Dutch VDL Group. The production of passenger buses continues at the factory in TIDZ Skopje 2 in Bunardzik, mainly for the markets of the USA and Canada.
