New potential investment by the Croatian ELKA, a high-voltage cable company
Director Goce Dimovski, together with the appointed ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Dragan Gjurchevski, met today in Zagreb with Matija Sesok, president of the board of directors of the Croatian company Elka, which is part of the Iskra Group. The meeting discussed potential opportunities for the construction of a new electrical cable factory within the TIDZ, which would specialize in the production of high-voltage to extremely high-voltage cables.
Director Dimovski pointed out the opportunities offered by Macedonia as a country and TIDZ, with special emphasis on the favorable business climate and current policies, taking into account that the country is a leader in the region when it comes to foreign direct investments.
“As a country, we offer a variety of benefits for foreign investments that bring added value to our economy, and we are currently ranked as one of the top six leading countries in the world when it comes to foreign investments. This new potential investment is significant in many aspects, considering that this would be the first factory outside of Croatia, which will also improve Macedonia’s position on the FDI map.” – Dimovski emphasized.
The President of the Board of Directors of Elka, Matija Sesok, emphasized that Macedonia is a stable partner with a predictable business climate.
“We are recognized as a leading manufacturer of electrical cables in Central and Eastern Europe with a strong commitment to quality and innovation, as the only manufacturer of medium and high voltage cables in the region. I believe that the new potential investment will have a strong impact on the technological and sustainable development of Macedonia, as well as increasing exports.” – said Sesok.
Founded in 1927, the Elka company has a rich heritage of almost a century in the electrical cable industry. The production facility, located in Zagreb, has been operating since the late 1970s, occupying a vast area of 88,000 m², with annual capacities enabling the production of 25,000 tons of finished products. In July 2021, following approval from the competition authorities in Croatia and Slovenia, the ELKA company became part of the ISKRA Group, marking the beginning of a new cycle of continuous investment, development and growth.
