Official cornerstone laying of the new BMZ factory, 700 new jobs announced
Today, in the technological industrial development zone Skopje 2, the cornerstone of BMZ, the new German investment for the production of lithium batteries that will create 700 new jobs, was officially laid. The event was attended by the Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska Kochovska, as well as the director of TIDZ, Goce Dimovski and the director of BMZ Macedonia, Jelica Ivanovska.
“I expect many more such investments in the coming period. Negotiations are ongoing for the expansion of two already existing investments from foreign investors, but also a new one that we are negotiating and are in the final phase with another very large and powerful European country, a member of the EU. I hope and I am sure that it will also be completed by the end of the year, which I think will seriously exhaust the human potential for this type of investment in our country, and I think that in this way we will add value to the process of increasing GDP – something that it is very important to us. So once again, one cannot help but be happy and joyful when an investment worth 65 million euros opens, where there will be a maximum of 700 and more employees when the investment itself reaches its peak.” – said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
BMZ Group will invest around 65 million euros, and director Jelica Ivanovska expressed gratitude for the cooperation so far, hoping for even greater success in the future.
“We worked with 110 employees until now, but as a “brownfield” in Rade Koncar’s factory in sectors with five lines. Now we will build a new and modern factory, we plan 40 production lines, and the total number of employees will be between 700 and 1,000. The export will be intended mostly for Germany and Poland,” said Ivanovska.
Director Goce Dimovski emphasized his satisfaction with the investment, which will also have long-term positive effects on the Macedonian economy as a whole.
“The new BMZ factory is another confirmation of the success of Macedonia as a competitive destination for foreign investors. This investment will not only bring new jobs, but will also encourage economic growth and development, providing significant benefits for the entire country,” said the director of TIDZ, Dimovski.
Estimates are that the plant will be put into operation in May. The BMZ Group develops and produces high-tech battery systems, which are installed all over the world in the most diverse products of well-known brands, and also produces battery systems with its own brands. In addition to being a leader in scientific research, the company also has a widespread network of clients. There are more than 230 engineers in the research center, and it develops more than 100 new products every year.
