CONSTRUCTION OF TWO NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANTS IN TIDZ STRUMICA AND STRUGA

In TIDZ Strumica and TIDZ Struga, two photovoltaic power plants with a total power of nearly 8MW will be built. The two power plants will be built within the framework of a public-private partnership with the Turkish company Fidesz Electric Energy, selected through a public call. The public call was opened at the end of November 2023 in a procedure according to the Law on Public Procurement, for a duration of 45 days, under the same conditions for domestic and foreign companies.

Two offers were submitted within the framework of the call. One of the selected company, as well as one of the Israeli-Chinese consortium. The Turkish company will have to build photovoltaic power plants in both zones with a total capacity of close to 8 MW. According to the submitted offer and the conducted auction, the company is obliged to pay 10% of the revenues generated from the electricity production to the state budget.

The contract for public private partnership is concluded for 25 years. After the expiration of this period, the private partner is obliged to transfer the ownership of the photovoltaic power plants to the state with 80% production capacity. The land remains the property of the state. The private partner will also pay an annual fee for the land (rent) of 40 MKD per m2.

With these investments, TIDZ aims to contribute to strengthening the country’s energy capacities, as well as accelerating the transition to an economy based on green energy, which is a global trend. Precisely the access to energy from renewable sources is a request or a priority for most of the foreign companies that work or have an interest in investing in N. Macedonia. Photovoltaic power plants directly contribute to increasing the attractiveness for investment in the country.

By the end of March, a new call for public-private partnership for the construction of photovoltaic power plants will be announced, for which purpose more than 40 hectares of land have been determined in TIDZ Skopje, Shtip and Prilep. It is about land that is not suitable for performing other activities (industry), that is, border plots that have been unused for more than 15 years, and which with this procedure will be put into operation and will bring significant revenues to the state. The public call will be under the same conditions as the successfully completed one for TIDZ Struga and Strumica, equally open to domestic and foreign companies.
