THE JAPANESE MINISTRY OF ECONOMY AND FINANCE WITH JOINT INITIATIVES FOR ENHANCED ECONOMIC COOPERATION

The Director of TIDZ Jovan Despotovski met with the Assistant Minister of Economy of Japan, and the Director General of the Trade Policy Directorate Matsuo Takehiko. Both emphasized the importance of strengthened economic cooperation between Japan and North Macedonia, especially in light of global political and economic challenges, and specific cooperation initiatives were also discussed.

“Japan has a huge economic and investment potential and can become an important partner for the accelerated growth of N. Macedonia. We talked about specific programs offered by the Ministry to support investments of Japanese companies abroad, as well as training programs for our managers, through which over 200 managers of Macedonian small and medium-sized companies have already passed. It is a potential that should be used,” emphasized Despotovski.

The Japanese Assistant Minister of Economy emphasized that it is very important to strengthen the economic cooperation between countries that share common values like N. Macedonia and indicated that the country offers attractive elements for Japanese investors, especially for companies working in the field of IT and advanced technologies.

The director of TIDZ sent a special invitation to the Japanese Minister of Economy to come on an official visit to the country next year as part of the activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Despotovski previously had meetings with the first people of the Japanese Development Cooperation Agency (JICA Japan International Cooperation Agency), the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association, the Japan Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Japan Association of the new economy (Japan Association of the new economy), from which concrete plans for economic cooperation and encouraging Japanese companies to invest in North Macedonia emerged. “The goal is to present our country and investment opportunities to more Japanese companies and institutions. The initial talks are encouraging and opportunities for cooperation on multiple levels are already opening up,” says Despotovski.

Despotovski is on a several-day visit to Japan organized in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in North Macedonia. The goal is the presentation of investment opportunities in our country, and meetings with several Japanese chambers, business associations, companies and state institutions are planned.
